Kalim Beach

Kalim Beach is situated just north of Patong Beach on the west coast of Phuket. The small stretch of beach is divided by a parking area and a space for small food stalls selling local Thai delicacies, fresh fruit, ice cream and soft drinks.

The beach has large boulders surrounding it and has some good snorkeling opportunities when the tide is high. During the low season Kalim Beach is a popular spot for surfing – considered by some the best in Phuket – the Quicksilver Thailand Surf Competition was held here in 2012.

Situated on the hillside overlooking Kalim Beach, one of the more unusual and interesting things to do in Kalim is Zorbing at Rollerball. For those unfamiliar with the term Zorbing (also known as sphering, globe-riding or orbing) it is basically getting inside a large transparent ball partially filled with water and rolling down a hill. The track at Kalim is one of the longest in the world and boasts one of the finest scenery.

For those with more sedate passions the nearby Phuket Country Club is one of the finest golf courses in Thailand. The 18-hole course has stunning scenery and has hosted many international competitions and on the hillside overlooking Kalim Beach the Kalima Sea View Resort has an elaborate fun mini-golf course.

Just two kilometres south of Kalim Beach is the wild and wonderful world of Patong. In the evening it is throbbing with all sorts of nightlife - bars, nightclubs, shows and lively venues featuring live bands. Patong also has one of the largest shopping centres in Phuket – Jungceylon. Here you will find everything you want, from designer labeled sunglasses, clothes, mobile phones and electrical goods. The complex also has a state-of-the-art cinema, bowling alley and plenty of pubs, restaurants and outdoor entertainment.
