Thalang Rental Villas
Thalang is a large town situated in the north of Phuket, a short distance from the international airport and the highly regarded Phuket International School. The Thalang District covers the northern half of Phuket and is divided into six sub-districts: Thep Krasatti, Si Sunthon, Choeng Thale, Paklok, Mai Khao and Sakhu.
Thalang central location offers easy access to the beaches on the west coast of Phuket and the wealth of facilities provided by Cherngtalay, Laguna and Layan. A short drive north of Thalang will take you to the Sarasin Bridge from where you can explore the wonders of Phang Nga Bay’s fascinating limestone islands jutting up from the clear waters of the Andaman Sea.
Just north of Thalang town is the ‘Temple of the Gold Buddha’, Wat Phra Thong. The sculpture is half buried so that only the head and shoulders are above ground, and local beliefs have it that the image is slowly rising from the earth.
The Thalang district is also home to Phuket’s most famous landmark – the Heroines Monument built in memory of the sisters Chan and Mook. The sisters outwitted the Burmese forces in their attempted invasion of Phuket two centuries ago by dressing up local women in army uniforms thus giving the impression of a much more powerful force than Phuket actually had.
The Thalang National Museum is a fascinating glimpse into Phuket’s history. The museum contains five halls chronicling the diverse ethnicities found in the south of Thailand and houses some very interesting and unique exhibits.
