Karon is Phuket’s second most popular and developed tourist towns in Phuket, after Patong a short distance away. The stunning three kilometre stretch of fine sand along the beach and the ample space between the main road and the shore front ensures a freedom of space not often afforded by other beaches on the island.

The main centre of Karon is at the northern end of beach where the ornamental Karon circle (or roundabout) and a small lake is situated. Here is the heart of Karon – compacted into a relatively small area there a numerous and diverse range of restaurants, guesthouses, bars, massage shops and market stalls. A few minute walk from Karon Circle is Wat Karon, a quaint temple that hosts a weekly market and an annual three day festival.

A sunset stroll along Karon’s promenade is the perfect way to spend the end of the day. Karon’s shore front is lined with open-air seafood restaurants offering the freshest catch-of-the-day meals. At the southern end of Karon beach is the Dino Park mini-golf course and restaurant, very popular with families, it features an erupting volcano and dinosaur sculptures.

Karon is home to two of Phuket’s largest hotel resorts, The Hilton and The Movenpick, both of which offering fine dining in a luxurious setting.

There are many activities and events held on Karon Beach, aside from paragliding and jet-skis, Karon hosts the FIVB women’s beach volleyball contest and holds a fantastic New Years’ Eve beach party complete with live music, a foam pool, DJs and dazzling display of fireworks.
